Apex Carpentry LLC completely renovated and modernized this condominium in a historic North End waterfront building. We successfully crafted a sleek, functional urban space for a professional couple while preserving the building’s original character and maximizing views of Boston Harbor.
This 1830’s granite and brick structure originally served as a mooring area for working clipper ships, designed to stash their wares shipped in from overseas. It fell victim to a hasty 1980’s condo-boom conversion complete with low-cost materials and low-caliber design and workmanship.
But we saw its potential. Our design restored the original details, while making it up-to-date and functional for modern living. We restored the exposed wood-beam ceilings, tucking plumbing, electrical, and central air ductwork behind reclaimed lumber carefully chosen to match the existing woodwork.
The renovation also created sleek bathrooms and a chef-worthy kitchen.
