In the 1980′ a developer swooped in and chopped this beautiful old Swampscott Carriage houseand into three condo units for a quick sale.
The unit we were hired to work on came complete with a bargain basement kitchen, stucco walls, and shoddy-looking floors and carpet. There was barely a hint of the classic old-structure it once was.
And the problems with the unit were more than just cosmetic. When Apex carpenters started opening up walls, they discovered some major structural problems. During the renovation, crews had cut away framing that supported the home without bracing it properly. Many of the walls were crooked and a dormered roof was ripping away from the main structure.
Our goal was to ensure that the home was not only safe, but to restore and modernize the space and we think we succeeded.
We hope you enjoy the tour.
