Custom Master Suite

Our clients were looking to carve out a little space for themselves by adding a master suite to their Garrison Colonial home in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

The problem was: Where should it go?

The obvious choice seemed to be the unfinished attic space above the second floor, but the couple preferred that their room be on the same floor as their children. So we went back to the drawing board and decided to build an addition over a first-floor sunroom instead.

It was the perfect opportunity to build up and add space to give the couple everything they were looking for, including much needed closet space. We maximized the shared closet space with sleek white custom cabinetry, warmed up with walnut details. With a little creative planning we were even able to sneak in a laundry room.

The suite also included a beautiful new bathroom. We designed a custom vanity for the homeowner, and helped her carry out her vision of a bright, clean space, with earthy wood details.

The biggest challenge we faced on this project was preserving the beauty of the home’s exterior while creating the addition. To make sure we stayed true to the home’s aesthetic, we brought in Marblehead architect, Bridgette Fortin Designs and she helped us seamlessly blend the old with the new.

In the end the homeowners got the space they needed and the home kept all of its original charm.
